The company’s social and societal responsibility
We have multiple responsibilities: to help talent to blossom, to train our staff in sustainable development, to promote diversity, to increase the cohesion between our patronage activities and our overall approach. It takes the form, for example, of the creation of the Dexia Personal Training Path, of SD training sessions intended for all, of reports on the place of women in the Group and aid and personal solidarity operations. Moreover, in 2009, Dexia will strive to keep up the social dialogue begun as part of the Group restructuring plan and to limit its effects on jobs.
Environmental Responsibility
This aims to limit our impact on the environment, chiefly from two sources: our emissions of greenhouse gases and paper consumption. This highly practical policy has led in particular to the definition of targets for reducing CO2 emissions and to large scale campaigns to cut the number of paper copies of the annual report and on making the SD report and payslips in Belgium and Luxembourg virtual. Implementing these is a priority in 2009.
Relations with the society around us
To make good its commitments, Dexia has armed itself with an effective application tool and enhancement of EP (Equator Principles) reporting. The Group also organises debates on its sustainable development initiative with NGOs. The first debate of this type was held in June 2008 with the support of Mrs. Corinne Lepage, French Minister of the Environment from 1995 to 1997.
