Sustainable development at the heart of Dexia strategy

Sustainable development is at the very heart of Dexia Group strategy. In 2006, we entered a new phase by defining our sustainable development action plan.

These actions constitute the response we wish to make in real terms to the environmental and social issues we face in our various activities.

This section of our site is intended for all those who want to learn about the guiding lines of our action plan and the manner in which our Group will implement them.

Adopted in 2006, our sustainable development action plan revolves around the five principal lines of our approach to Social and Environmental Responsibility:

1. Relations with society around us
2. The social and societal responsibility of the company
3. The direct environmental responsibility of the company
4. Sustainable development and commercial activities: local public sector finance
5. Sustainable development and commercial activities: retail banking, insurance and fund management.

Asserting our sustainable development strategy confirms the priority we have set ourselves for future years: to assist our clients from a sustainability point of view in the actions they take and to provide them with innovative products and services.

Aware that the fight against climate change is one of the major environmental and social challenges our clients and our company will have to overcome in future years, we want to pursue an active policy of controlling the impact of our company’s operations and of our commercial activities.

Publication of the Sustainable development report 2008

This report has been conceived so as to particularly focus on the main issues of sustainable development for Dexia which are particularly the fight against climate change and the support of our clients for the implementation of their sustainable development policies.

In order to be coherent with our global process of reduction of our paper consumption, in particular for the printed one, the 2008 report has been for the first time completely dematerialized.
